Angel Tree: South Nashville

For the fifth year, Elmahaba will be sorting, packaging, distributing packages to newcomer-children in South Nashville from Egypt, Sudan, Syria, and Iraq. Often, these kids don’t receive presents for many reasons—financial stability, parents’ immobility (don’t have driver’s licenses—follow us on instagram for updates on that campaign), or parents working long hours and unable to shop for their kids. We want to guarantee that kids are able to participate in this holiday fully and can join their school mates in the joy of the holidays.

We are also raising $1,000 for each family to receive a $50 gift card to spend as they wish and a candy bag of treats for each child.

Any questions, or if you’d like to volunteer to wrap or deliver, should be directed to Lydia: 615-567-3215 OR lydia@elmahabacenter.org

How does it work?

  1. Fill out our form to pick out a kiddo (or two!) to sponsor. Each gift must be new and worth around $20. The kids really have loved all the presents in the past because of how much thought the donors put into each one, despite having few instructions, so we have kept it simple again this year. Each tag is merely age and gender. We keep names anonymous for parents’ sakes in our community.

  2. DROP OFF package at L&E Market in South Nashville: 606 Millwood Drive, Nashville, TN 37217.

  3. SHIP PACKAGE to our office: Elmahaba Center PO Box 17685 Nashville, TN 37217. Make sure to ship gifts BEFORE DECEMBER 16th! Last year, some packages came in late, and although we managed to get them to the kids, it was a logistical headache to stall the delivery for some families because of one missing gift, so please just be aware of shipping dates. Please notify Lydia (615-567-3215) to expect it in the mail.

  4. PLEASE MAKE SURE your package is unwrapped in gift wrap and NEW. We will wrap all presents with extra presents the weekend before Christmas night. PLEASE ALSO MAKE SURE that your Angel number from the form is visible somewhere on the gift, so that we can sort accordingly.

  5. We will sort, package and begin to distribute between Sunday, December 17th, 2023 to Wednesday, December 20th, 2023 before Christmas.

  6. We will be adding gift cards for each family, and each child will receive a handwritten Christmas card and candy goodie bag. There is an option at the end of the form (hyperlinked in #1) to add a donation to go towards those needs; otherwise, we will pull from our Giving Tuesday and mutual aid.
